Memories of his childhood marked by the war

“Those were just great children years, even though being marked by the Second World War, which was quite cruel for our family. My father joined the resistance movement very actively and he got revealed, of course. So one day, I remember it was the October 13, 1944, they searched for him. He managed to hide in some corner of the loft in our house.”

  • born in 1934 in the village of Farná
  • spent his childhood and high school years in Hlohovec
  • he was strongly affected by imprisonment of his parents, who helped partisans during the Slovak National Uprising
  • from 1953 studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU)
  • after school he worked at the Army Theatre in Martin for 10 years
  • since 1967 he performed at the theatre Nová scéna and taught at the VŠMU
